Fact: I don’t wear perfume often.
Alternative Fact: I might be slightly obsessed with perfume now, especially because of the unique bottles.
When I received the Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Black Opium and Black Opium Nuit Blanche perfumes from Influenster, I must say I wasn't expecting to like them. I didn't jump, or even nay nay, for joy.
I'm not big on wearing perfume because I'm sensitive to smell. For example, I once tested a fragrance at a perfume counter in the mall. I asked the associate not to spray it on me but to spray it on a sample card. She gave it to me and I put it in my purse. The whole time I was out shopping I had a horrible headache and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what it was until I got home and opened my purse. I almost died because the smell was horrific. That's how keen my sense of smell is.
So you could imagine how hesitant I was to try the YSL Black Opium perfumes. My first impression of the original Black Opium was "Hmmm this smells good. I can work with this." The Nuit Blanche was more like, "No ma'am! I cant!" (Ya'll know I have my extra moments.)
Since I like to research, I was sitting at my desk and googled what nuit blanche stands for. It means “a sleepless night”. So this fragrance is perfect for an evening out with the girls or possibly a date night. Now because I don't club anymore or go on dates (that's another blog post in itself), I'm willing to try the Nuit Blanche once more (maybe just one mist in the air and walk into it situation) for a night out on the town. Night on the town meaning early dinner and home in bed by 10 p.m.! I'm not so sure it will change my mind but I want to give it a fair chance.
Both YSL Black Opium fragrances can be purchased at Sephora and thanks to Influenster, these complimentary perfumes have me wanting to step my game and my display up with a few more.
I always compare everything to fashion. I guess it makes things more relatable since it’s my first love. I’d like to think of the original Black Opium as an everyday perfume (kind of like wearing your sensual but cute velvet slip-ons everyday). The Nuit Blanche is more of an evening/special occasion perfume (like bringing out those sexy backless velvet heeled mules for date night). Either way you smell (and look) good!
