How to Style: Fancy Dress Turned Casual Chic

If you can't think of a reason to wear that fancy dress in the back of your closet that you didn't get a chance to slay during the holidays, don't be dismayed, this trick will make it casual chic in a snap!

The holidays are done and done and if you're like me, you may or may not have purchased a few fancy dresses to hold you over for holiday parties or galas. If you have one (or three) that's still tagged and ready for its close up, here are a few tips and tricks to turn it into casual chic for everyday wear. I didn't get to wear this dress for Christmas as planned, so I opted for a casual look and added a printed jacket and sneakers. Because this long- sleeved dress is a pretty basic style shift dress (with the exception of the silky ribbed material) it was a bit easy to dress it down. The over-sized camo jacket pairs well with the dress, giving it a bit of character and complimenting the bright red color of the dress; while the sneakers add a touch of sporty chic, comfortably. This is absolutely my go-to. Daily. I love to dress down and be cute and comfortable. On the contrary, I do enjoy dressing up, but only when necessary. When trying this style hack, remember that the dress is the main attraction. You still want it to stand out. The outwear, bottoms and shoes are just the extras. Add sunnies, hoop earrings, and a cute backpack purse or cross body and you're all set!

Bonus Ways to Style:

- Add a denim jacket, flannel tied around the waist, and booties.

- Add jeans or pants and slip on loafers. You can also add a lardigan (long cardigan) for colder climates.
